Independent Music Teachers Forum Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

Hope everyone has successfully ended their Spring semester! Have you planned your summer curriculum yet? Many students take summer off because there are other summer camps that fill up schedules. How do we compete with other summer camps? How do you persuade your students’ parents to continue lessons in the summer?

On Saturday, May 21st at 3pm, IMTF will be meeting on Zoom to discuss how to boost your summer income. Let’s share experiences and ideas with each other.

I have invited the following teachers to share their expertise:

  • Ellen Owen teaches composition in her studio. She will give us some tips on how to start teaching composition or putting together a summer camp for composition.
  • David Easley has given many improvisation and jazz workshops in many cities and has hosted summer sessions in his community. He will be sharing how he started the classes and tips on how to teach the classes.
  • Rebecca Bellello has a large piano school in Baton Rouge. She will be sharing her experience offering mini camps at her piano school.

Here’s the Zoom link (additional Zoom details below): https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86206634196?pwd=uYV5gbYz2iaAyOnjDOzA-qcLLLaZbn.1

At the end of the meeting, we will have a drawing for a couple prizes. First prize is a Kindle copy of The Dynamic Studio by Phillip Johnston. Second prize is a $10 Starbucks gift certificate. Please feel free to invite anyone who may be interested in this topic, including college students who may be piano teachers in the future.

See you soon,

Chia-Ling Lien
